Carotenoids Protect Against Bone Loss

Researchers investigating data from the Framingham Osteoporosis Study found that diets high in total carotenoids, beta-caroteine, lycopene, lutein, and zeaxanthin are associated with higher bone mineral density.
Carotenoids are natural plant bioflavinoids found in orange and yellow vegetables and fruits such as carrots and squash.
