For the last decade, mounting evidence has suggested that narcolepsy is an autoimmune disorder. Last month, this theory was confirmed by Stanford researchers.
Narcolepsy is a disorder characterized by sudden periods of daytime sleepiness and muscle weakness. The cause is genetic mutations that destroy cells responsible for the secretion of a hormone that causes alertness.
