Effect of Statins on Thyroid Function

A study recently published in the journal Thyroid "Radioiodine studies, low serum TSH, and the influence of statin drugs," describes the effects of statins on both thyroid function and thyroid function tests.

Patients on statins with low TSH tests who had been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism were found to have normal thyroid function using radioiodine studies. This study also explores the effects of statins in reducing inflammation and improving thyroid function.
