A study from Singapore published in the New England Journal of Medicine reported that between January 1 and May 26, 2008 150 patients were hospitalized for severe hypoglycemia. The cause was determined to be sexual enhancement preparations sold as Cialis or herbal preparations that actually contained a drug used in diabetics to lower blood sugar. Four patients died as a result.
The study's authors emphasize the importance of better collaboration between drug enforcement agencies in different countries and the transportation of drugs across borders. The bottom line is that unless you're buying medication from a reputable company, you have no idea of what you're getting.
