Cannabis Once Used as a Treatment for Graves' Disease

While researching my upcoming book on cannabidiol (CBD), a phytochemical found in the cannabis plant, I came across this: At the turn of the century (1890-1900) cannabis had attained a prominent position in Europe and the United States as a treatment for pain (especially migraines and menstrual cramps), whooping cough, asthma, and as a soporific/sedative. The following complaints were treated with cannabis on a smaller scale: stomach pains and gastrointestinal disorders, depression, diarrhea, anorexia, itching, bleeding in the womb, Graves' disease and malaria.
