    Have Graves, did RIA last year in Feb. Switched from synthroid to armour 4 weeks ago. Thoughts? I am guessing the dose is too low. Lots of symptoms

    TSH 12.6, previous 3.48

    ref range .45 - 4.5

    FT3 2.3, previous 3.2

    ref range 2 - 4.4

    FT4 .87, previous 1.86

    ref range .82 - 1.77

    Oddly my Vit dropped big time
    16.2, previous 41.4
    ref range 24.8 - 81.5

    Hi,
    sometimes doctors prescribe too low of an Armour dose to see how you adjust to it. You probably need to be on 2 grains (120 mg) of Armour. When upping the dose you can have transient hyper symptoms that resolve within a week or two unless the dose is too high.
    Was this vitamin D that dropped. Your doctor may prescribe D2 or if you've been on D3 you may just need to increase it. Most Graves' patients have low levels of fat soluble vitamins, including vitamin D. Your metabolism has likely slowed down a lot on that low Armour dose. Best, Elaine
