hi Elaine, I can’t believe I’m back about this already. I wrote on here in February because my ft4 and ft3 were in range and my trab was below the cut off at 1.20. However my tsh was still low.
My endo told me I could reduce my neo dose from 10mg per day to 10mg one day and 5 mg the next day. However I was feeling so good and because my trabs were technically negative, I cut down myself to 5mg per day,
However I got bloods done this week and my ft4 is up at 31 and my ft3 is 12

I’m really upset, I can’t seem to get a handle on this at all anymore, I’ve been on neo for over 2 years constantly now.

Do you think me reducing down my dose from 10 one day and 5 the next , to 5 every day - could have caused this increase in my thyroid levels? It’ seems like such a minor reduction

At this point, I feel I should bite the bullet and get my thyroid removed, I’ve had so Many relapses in the last 6 years, and now they are not only happening after pregnancy, it’s outside of pregnancy too

I’d be really grateful for your advice,
    Thank you as always

    Hi Rowan,
It sounds like dropping to 7.5 mg would work best for now. It's never a good idea to dose between 5 and 10 mg because you never achieve a steady drug dose or stable levels.
There's been lots going on between childbirth and Covid and vaccines so times are more trying. Being on neo for two years isn't unusual with studies showing lasting remission can take 4 years.
Don't get your thyroid removed. Being hypothyroid for the last 30+ years has been difficult and hard to treat since TSH stays low and most doctors don't get it. Fortunately my oncology docs understand.
Enjoy your small children. They grow so fast. Best, Elaine
