    Hi, Elaine:

Lab results 5/23/23 flagged low TSH as a result of my second attempt to discontinue methimazole, 2.5 daily dose. Had not been able to reduce weight at all on this dose. Steadily gained wght. Since discontinuing meth, Dec. 2022, have lost 10 lbs. (with dieting.) Trying to drop weight to treat high BP. Have been on low dose methimazole for years and want to discontinue. Risky, or not?? I do have shaky hands and dry eye symptoms. (Not sure if this is result of low TSH.)

See my MD 6/1/23 re lab results.

    Labs: TSH <0.005 Ref. 0.450 - 4.500
    T4 Free(Direct) 1.69 0.82 - 1.77

    Thks.

    Hi Aurorer,
What did your MD say? Since FT4 is close to the high end of the range you wouldn't want to decrease your dose or stop just yet. TSH is misleading so it shouldn't be used for dosing.
I have dry eye too. saw ophthalmologist yesterday and we both decided it was dehydration, which I have trouble with.
    Best, Elaine
