antibodies to the thyroglobulin (doze)

Hello, Elaine, it's Daria again. Now the table must seem more understandable.

Sorry for the yesterday’s look.

                                                            my result

1.thyrotropic hormone  TSH                13.9

(limits:   0, 4 – 4,0)

2. free T4 (FT4)                                 12,4

(limits: 10,3 – 24,5)

3.antibodies to the thyroglobulin          over 3 000

 (limits: less than 40)

I have been on 5mg Thiamazol daily for a long time, over two years now non-stop. And every time a doctor said I should stop taking it because I was becoming hypo, after a month or two my heart beat increased and I lost a lot of weight and went hyper again. They’d usually add some L-thyroxin (while lowering the dose of Thiamazol) which made me crazy (sleepless and crying all the time) and quickened the process of going back hyper.

Do you think I could start lowering  Thiamazol -  taking a half of a 5mg tablet  daily?

The autoimmune thing I can not do much about it (medicalwise), can I? Except the diet, not smoking and trying to meditate and not worry?

Many thanks and with a lot of gratitude,

 Daria

(I don't know how to post an answer so I had to start a new thread.)

Re: antibodies to the thyroglobulin (doze)

Hi Daria,

Since this is a Q&A board, you do have to start a new thread each time.

Thanks for clarifying your results. Your high thyroglobulin antibodies confirm that your hyperthyroidism is autoimmune. And your TSH confirms that your ATD dose is too high. When you become hypothyroid while on meds, it can increase thyroid antibody production.

I'd lower the dose to 2.5 mg and if TSH is still higher than 1.0 with your next labs, I'd lower the dose to 1.25 mg daily.  Block and replace, using thyroxine with your dose, is another good option but you'd then want to keep your ATD dose at 5mg and only add a small dose of levothyroxine, like 25 mcg (.025 mg).

Sounds like you're doing what's needed to help your immune system heal. Best, Elaine
