TSH level up

Hi Elaine - The latest doctors results on June 16th were:

TSH  2.82     T3  .8    T4  2.2  so there was no change in the T3 or T4 but the TSH has increased.  Doctor suggested to reduce the methimazole to 2.5 for everyday.  It seemed I was falling into the hypo stage.  I had tearing in my left eye for no reason and was extremely tired.  I'm starting to feel better since the new dosage.  I know it takes a while for the T3 to move.  Is there a good chance it will start moving upward with the new dose and where does the TSH go?  I'm taking vitamins D,B and Selenium daily.  Thanks again for your help.

Re: TSH level up

Hi,

Lowering your ATD dose should help your T3 rise. It takes long for T3 to fall when it's high, but it rises faster. Your TSH will fall. Usually, people on ATDs have a TSH that stays very low unless their ATD dose is too high or they're moving into remission. The increase you've had in TSH shows that your thyroid hormone levels are too low for your body's needs. Best, Elaine
