There is a link and it has to do with food allergies. Kids who wet the bed are likely to have various food allergies, especially to dairy. Allergic reactions, which raise levels of immunoglobulin E, are a trigger for autoimmune thyroid disease because over time they weaken the immune system, causing an erratic, ineffective response.
The highest initial levels of thyroid antibodies and thyroid hormone levels are typically seen in patients with the highest IgE levels.
Did you mean to see that his TSH is 5? This indicates hypothyroidism. During treatment the TSH typically stays low unless the mmi dose is too high. Treatment is based on the FT4 level, and it should be at least at mid-range. Best, elaine
