TSI RESULTS

 HI ELAINE,

I GOT BACK MY TSI RESULTS & IT IS 197.

WHAT CAUSES THE EYE PROBLEMS (DON'T HAVE ANY AS OF NOW), IS IT THE TSI OR THE T3 & T4:?

IS THERE A MEDICINE FOR THE TSI? DOES THIS CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH SLEEPING & BLOATING, ALTHOUGH MY T3 & T4 ARE GOOD NOW?

THANK YOU SO MUCH

RITA

Re: TSI RESULTS

Hi Rita,

Your elevated TSI confirms that you have active Graves' disease. Some eye symptoms are caused by high levels of thyroid hormone. A more serious type of TED is autoimmune and caused by TSI and blocking TSH receptor antibodies. Most people do not get this autoimmune form of TED.

Problems with sleeping and bloating can be caused by thyroid hormone levels (FT4 and FT3) that are within range but too low for your body's needs. These symptoms are usually seen in hypothyroidism although there are many other causes including imbalances of other hormones, food allergies, etc. Best, Elaine
