Dear Elaine,
Hope you’re doing well. I’m so grateful for all the help you provided so far.
As a short reminder: I have Hashitox (both hashi’s and Graves) + TED. In July started PTU/BRT and since then my antibodies are dropping. TSI went from 8 till 2.2 (yahoo). In November we decided to bring PTU down from 150 mcg till 75 mcg. My last measurement this week brought TSI at 3. Should I worry about that?
An overview of my recent labs, which also brings me to the question I’d like to ask. To my understanding, levels need to stabilize 6 weeks before they reflect an accurate picture. I don't want to overshoot my goal, but other then the fact that I obviously long to feel better again, as far as I understand I also should avoid hypo in order to prevent TED from worsening.
My latest labs are 3 weeks after my latest increase (increase of 3 mcg T3 medication and 6.25 mcg T4 medication). As we can see, my FT4 dropped so far, so I wonder what would be recommended in a situation like this?
Ranges TSH 0.40-3.50
FT4 0.54-1.24
FT3 2.50-3.90
Nov 25, 2011
TSH 0.27
FT4 1.12
FT3 3.54
decreased PTU to 75mg – still taking 137mcg T4
Dec 15 2011
TSH 0.42
FT4 1.02
dosage: 137 mcg T4 + 3 mcg Cytomel + 75mg PTU.
Jan 5 2012
TSH 0.24
FT4 1.14 (0.54-1.24) 86%
FT3 3.56 (2.50-3.90) 76%
Stopped T3 as experiment
Jan 26 2012
TSH 0.38
FT4 1.01 67%
FT3 2.57 5%
75mg PTU – increase T4 to 143.5 – resume 3mcg T3 (increase of 6.25 mcg T4 + 3 mcg T3)
3 weeks later Feb 16 2012
TSH 0.38
FT4 .94 57%
FT 3 3.08 41%
thank you in advance for any input!
