Dear Elaine Can you, please tell me which test indicates if my immune system is still active, for Graves? Is the antibodies test or TSI ?I want to ask my doctor to run it to see what is the chance to reach remission. I am currently on 1,25 strumazol and i do also acupunctuur. Also, msybe is not a good question because everybody is different but which is the most common simptom that you ll have if the graves is again active? I m feeling good now but i m making too much worries and i get scared if one day i feel a bit different, i think that i m geting sick again. Not a good way of thinking, i know.:)) Thank you for your time. Best wishes, Carmen

Hi Carmen,
There are several different thyroid antibodies. TSI are the thyroid antibodies that cause hyperthyroidism in Graves' disease. TSI stands for thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin (antibody) and this antibody is also known as stimulating TSH receptor antibody. The TSI test tells if your GD is active. Also, because TSI antibodies lower the TSH level, having a normal TSH when you're on a very low strumazol dose, indicates remission.
We all have different symptoms when we're hyperthyroid. Usually, people have a few predominant symptoms. Anxiety can occur in both hyperthyroidism and in hypothyroidisim. If your FT4 level falls too low you can have symptoms of hypothyroidism. Your FT4 and FT3 levels will give you a good idea of what your thyroid status (euthyroid, hyperthyroid, hypothyroid) is.
Take care, Elaine
