A recent study claimed that too much salt may trigger autoimmune disease. Although the national news made headlines with this report, the report is flawed. According to the Health Sciences Institute sodium in monosodium glutamate (MSG) is the real problem. The neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock has been warning us about MSG for more than a decade. As an excitotoxin MSG (also labeled as or found in natural flavoring, hydrolyzed proteins, whey protein, soy protein, soy sauce, stock, bouillion, broth, sodium caseinate, enzymes, autolyzed yeast, yeast extract, gelatin, and condensed milk) damages the nervous system and thereby the immune system.
Recent studies have linked MSG to the rise in obesity in the U.S. New studies have shown that including taurine in the diet and adding fiber can help prevent the effects of MSG. Still, for your immune health, it's better to avoid MSG and take the reports on salt with a grain of salt.
