Medication Interactions

A recent article I read mentioned that it's the furanocoumarin compounds in grapefruit that deactive the major liver enzyme that metabolizes drugs. This allows blood levels of more than 85 drugs to rise to dangerously high levels. The furanocoumarin compounds in grapefruit are also found in seville oranges (often found in marmalades), limes and pomelos.
