I was first diagnosed with GD in 2009 and I went into remission in 2011. A few months ago I started having some cardiac problems, palpitations. After many other test nothing truly cardiac related came so then on 5/24/2017 the doctor pulled my TSH and it was very low at .005. On 6/8/2017 he (the cardiologist) pulled my TSH again along with my FT3 and FT4. Labs where , TSH was .005 again and my FT3 was 12.7 and FT4 was 3.03, which indicated that I was no longer in remission. Went to see my Endo 2 weeks later and they re-drew my labs. Between 6/8/2017 and 6/27/2017 my numbers had changed for the better. My TSH went to .01 and my FT4 was 1.93. Is this normal for numbers to do this without meds? Am I out of remission? My Endo wants to treat as me bring out of remission for GD but I am not sure if I should take the meds (methimazole) or not. I am feeling better, which is indicative with the lower levels. Is there any such thing as a flare-up and it go back to normal by itself? Or am I really out of remission and it is normal for the levels to fluctuate. I am so confused!!! Do you have any thoughts on this? Would love your opinion.

    Hi,
I think I answered this last week. But if not, it sounds like subacute thyroiditis and not a relapse. for that reason I would not take the methimazole since you may be moving into hypothyroidism. I hope you've had repeat lab tests. best, elaine
