    Hi Elaine,
To summarize, you say that I don't have Hashimoto's, but my hormones level is on the low side and my TSH is on the high side; Do I have currently the Graves disease?
I know you don't like to go against a doctor's opinion, but I am 'sorry' to tell you that I value your opinion more! You helped me a lot going through with this whole condition; that is my choice! can you, please, tell me your opinion what dosage of Tyrosine I should take? my vitamin D was 48.2; what is a optimal level and last question: how often should I do tests?
    Thank you
    rita

    Hi Rita,

You have hypothyroidism but it's not caused by Hashimoto's thyroiditis. if it was you'd have a very high level of thyroglobulin antibodies. Patients with Graves' disease are more likely to have an autoimmune hypothyroidism caused by blocking TSH receptor antibodies. We begin producing them instead of stimulating TSH receptor antibodies as the disease course winds down. You'll always have Graves' disease but you're now in remission with hypothyroidism.
A dosage of 250 mg tyrosine daily may help.
Ideally, with an autoimmune disease, it's good to get your 25 OH vitamin D level as high as 60. Your level is ok but it could be higher. best, elaine
