Hi Elaine,
As a follow up to my earlier post - The TRab results are
2.17 with range of 1.75. Dr's response was that I am slightly positive and that it was still important to control the thyroid gland.
I responded in somewhat agreement and proposed a BRT with addition of T4 and see if going to a dose of 1.25 or 2.5 plus the T4 would achieve what we are trying to achieve - remission. I doubt he will go for it but I also tried to use history that shows I cannot tolerate the higher mmi.
As I was typing this I got his response and he says I can manage the MMI as I see fit but he does not do combination therapy as it is considered outside the standards of practice.
What do I do now? This is so frustrating....
Thanks Elaine.
Hi Cindee,
It would have been better if he'd ordered a TSI test. With the TRAb, you could primarily have blocking antibodies and have a high result.
I'd probably use the 0.625 dose during your trip and stop it when you get back. Then continue to have labs every 6-8 weeks to see if your levels remain low, requiring replacement hormone, or if FT4 starts to rise significantly you could resume the MMI. There's a good chance you're in remission. Best, Elaine
